Vidyanta Skills Institute conducted a one-day CNE workshop on how to manage a stroke. The key objectives were: to understand pre-hospital stroke assessment, to differentiate between hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke, know how to use NIHSS scale, to understand different management modalities of a stroke and the rehabilitation of stroke patients.
The target audience was practicing nurses and nurse educators involved with the ER and ICU departments. Twenty-seven nurses from the following hospitals attended:
– DDU Hospital
– Balaji Action Hospital
– Max Hospital
– Rajiv Gandhi Hospital
– Manipal Hospital
– RML Hospital
Hands-on practice sessions were conducted using mid-fidelity mannequins. Stations were set-up for hands-on practice of NIHSS, CPR, airway management, and thrombolytic drugs.
