Course Brief:

To be effective in resuscitation of the arrest victim in the hospital, it is essential that a team approach be in place. Additionally, each member of the team should know their specific functions, so that they can anticipate their roles in these emergent situations. The students will study potential roles as cardiac compressor, medication nurse, and defibrillator/cardioverter operator, manager of airway, timer and record keeper. Students will get an opportunity to learn the cardiac arrest patient assessment (includes Basic ECG interpretation) and immediate treatment. This course is NOT a substitute for the Advanced Cardiac Life Support course.

OT Nurse

Eligibility:

Staff Nurses (working at Operation Theater/ Fresh Graduate Nurse) 

Duration:

20 Hours 

Course Brief:

This clinically-based program is intended for RNs wishing to upgrade their skills in the operation theatre. The course has both didactic and clinical components. The didactic component includes training in the surgical assistant (scrub) role as well as the circulating nurse role. Principles of asepsis and techniques in specialty areas are discussed followed by exposure to actual cases.

Critical Care Nursing

This course provides context of critical care nursing practice and concepts in the care of the critically ill patient. Advanced knowledge in major diseases affecting individuals, which requires them to have high intensity nursing, will be the focus of this course. The course includes the comprehensive systemic assessment, technology as practice and clinical judgment and ethical issue in critical care unit. Completion of this module will be useful to those nurses who have not had a formal training in Critical Care Nursing and who desire to work in a critical care unit.

Basic ECG & Arrhythmia Interpretation

Course Brief:

This course is designed for independent study of normal and abnormal ECG interpretation. Through this course, the nurse develops proficiency in “reading” ECG in dynamic and static patterns. In the static recognition, the nurse, given an ECG strip will be able to identify the abnormality and develop interventions for the same. The dynamic recognition of arrhythmia is aimed at developing rapid recognition skills in the identification of abnormal patterns. This is accomplished by having the student rapidly identify an abnormality while an ECG is displayed on a cardiac monitor.

Nursing Clinical Assessment

Course Brief:

The first step of the nursing process is assessment. This lays the foundation for developing a plan of care for the patient. Included in this course are the techniques in gathering subjective and objective data, perform a head-to-toe assessment, identify abnormal findings, and document the same. The course includes that how to present the findings in-front of physician in SBAR format. Students are taught techniques to perform a head-to-toe and system-specific assessment including neurologic, cardiovascular, pulmonary, GI, GU, skin, musculoskeletal, and lymphatic assessment.

Course Brief:

To be effective in trauma victim in the hospital, it is essential that a nurse should know the safe and reliable method for the immediate treatment of injured patients. The basic knowledge necessary to assess the patient’s condition rapidly and accurately, resuscitate and stabilize patients according to priority, determine whether a patient’s needs exceed a facility’s resources and a provider capabilities, arrange appropriately for a patient’s inter hospital transfer (what, who, when and how) and ensure that optimal care is provided and that the level of care does not deteriorate at any point during the evaluation, resuscitation, or transfer process.

Ventilator Management

Eligibility:

Duration:

Course Brief:

This course will discuss concepts needed to manage mechanical ventilation in the acute care setting, including ventilator settings, modes of mechanical ventilation, complications of mechanical ventilation, management of ventilated patients in distress, general and disease-specific ventilation strategies, and weaning from ventilatory support.  Although useful guidelines are provided, clinicians will need to individualize mechanical ventilation strategies based upon the clinical scenario. Tracheal intubation and other aspects of airway management are discussed elsewhere.

This course follows the curriculum of AHA. The participant will develop skill in applying the algorithms of typical ACLS scenarios such as VT with pulse, VT/VF, Asystole, PEA, post-arrest, STEMI and CVA.

The part 1 of the courses, essential course is online and part 2 is classroom course followed by the 2 monitoring sessions.
