A medical emergency is a life-threatening situation which is caused due to a sudden illness or injury. Quick, calm, and correct action can make all the difference.
First aid is emergency care given to the sick or injured before medical personnel arrive. Every year in India, thousands of people die due to a medical emergency who did not get first aid during the golden seconds of survival. Many deaths can be prevented if first aid is given before emergency services arrive.
At the end of this lesson, a student will be able to understand first aid for:
- Cardiac emergencies
- Respiratory emergencies
- Allergic reactions and poisoning
- Hypoglycemia, fainting and shock
- Neuro emergencies: Stroke and seizure
- Drowning
