The assessment and management of the endocrine system in patients with critical illness is one of the most challenging for the critical care team. Severe acute illness causes dramatic changes in most endocrine systems. In this lesson, we will learn an in-depth overview of assessment, management, nursing priorities and evaluation of patients with a variety of endocrine disorders and explore assessment tools and diagnostics, measures to intervene for alterations and tips to prevent complications.
