The standards encourage an environment of continuous quality improvement in all areas of a hospital. The standards encourage an organization to collect data on structures, processes and outcomes, especially in areas of high-risk situations. The Quality Team should collect, collate, analyze data and use for further sustained  improvements. The Quality Team of an organization should define its sentinel events and intensively investigate when such events occur.

At the end of the lesson you will be able to understand:

  1. Structured quality improvement and continuous monitoring program in the organization
  2. Patient-safety program
  3. Key indicators to monitor the clinical structures, processes and outcomes
  4. Key indicators to monitor the managerial structures, processes and outcomes
  5. Mechanism for validation and analysis of quality indicators
