Wound care management is a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach for preventing and managing wounds. A wound care nurse is consulted during a patient’s stay in the hospital when a wound or pressure ulcer (bedsore) is discovered, or if the patient has an ostomy.
A wound care nurse is responsible for determining the proper course of treatment to and continually assesses the patient’s skin ensures patient safety and facilitates wound healing.
