Course Objectives: Upon completion of the course, a participant will be able to:
- Demonstrate concepts and principles of patient assessment
- Establish management priorities in a trauma situation
- Initiate primary and secondary management necessary in the first hour of emergency care for an acute life-threatening emergency
- Demonstrate skills necessary in the initial management of trauma victims, including, initial assessment of victims with multiple injuries
- Handle shock management
- Perform intubation & cricothyroidotomy
- Conduct pleural decompression and chest tube insertion
- Perform extremity and spinal immobilization
- Handle head trauma management
