Wound Management is a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to preventing and managing wounds. A wound care nurse is consulted during a patient’s stay in the hospital when a wound or pressure ulcer (bedsore) is discovered, or if a patient has an ostomy. A wound care nurse is responsible for determining the proper course of treatment to and continually assesses a patient’s skin, ensures patient safety and facilitates wound healing.
