As a group, coronaviruses are commonly found across the globe. COVID-19 is a new strain of the coronavirus which was first identified in Wuhan City, China in December  2019. The incubation period of COVID-19 is assessed to be between 2 to 14 days.  When someone who has COVID-19 coughs or exhales they release droplets of infected fluid. Most of these droplets fall on nearby surfaces and objects – such as desks, tables or telephones.

People can catch COVID-19 by touching these contaminated surfaces or objects and then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. If they are standing within one meter (3 feet) of a person with COVID-19, then they can catch it by breathing in the droplets coughed out or exhaled.

It is very important for everyone to strictly follow the guidelines and recommendations. Till date, there is no vaccine available for COVID-19; as such, safety and precautions is the primary way of preventing the spread of COVID-19.
