This module addresses the physiological, social, and psychological aspects of stress; examines the relationship between stress and health, nutrition, and physical activity; identifies causes and health effects of workplace stress; and explores modalities to reduce and manage stress. The module covers psychology of stress and anxiety-related disorders and their management and some important topics, such as generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, burnout, and panic disorder. The module provides basic understanding of the types of therapy and which techniques are considered to be the best in therapeutic practice today; what kind of medications are typically prescribed for ‘anxiety disorders’; and how quickly to reduce the state of ‘panic’ or ‘anxiety’ through various breathing techniques.
