Every healthcare professional is dedicated to the promotion, protection, and support of breastfeeding and human lactation in their work for preventing and solving breastfeeding problems. Nurses understand that breastfeeding works best when it is the cultural norm and when providers of lactation support and services are culturally competent. This module trains nurses on how to teach mothers how to feed their babies. Nurses help women experiencing breastfeeding problems, such as latching difficulties, painful nursing, and low milk production. Nurses, as a lactation counselor, also help babies who aren’t gaining enough weight.
