Course Enrollment Process
The AHA Training Center Coordinator (TCC) or the Training Center Faculty (TCF) identifies a potential candidate for the BLS Instructor course during the candidate’s BLS Provider Course session or from feedback by the AHA instructors.
The TCC or TCF checks CPRverify, an online tool enabling students, instructors, and training centers to quickly verify training completed by an authorized AHA instructor, to confirm the candidate has completed the BLS Provider Course from any other International Training Center (ITC).
The ITC approves the candidate’s application and registration.
The candidate must complete the online Instructor Essential Course (pay directly to AHA – via online).
The candidate submits an Instructor Essential Course Certificate to the ITC. Subsequently, the candidate attends the classroom session (one day) as per the ITC schedule. Upon passing the course, the candidate must complete 2 monitoring sessions as per the ITC schedule.
Upon successful completion, the candidate receives an AHA BLS Instructor license number. The ITC issues a BLS Instructor Card and Certificate.
The AHA-certified BLS Instructor must complete a minimum 4 sessions per year to maintain the BLS Instructor card and status.
