Geriatric trauma constitutes an increasingly recognized problem all over the world. The progressive decline in cellular function due to aging leads to a loss of their capacity to respond to injury. Falls are the most common cause of trauma and the leading cause of trauma-related deaths in this population. Old age population is also more prone to burn injury and are more likely to develop complications after the burn injury. In general, the elderly are at a higher risk for burn injuries, mortality rate, as well as, severity of the complications.
