This chapter deals with the standards for a safe and secure environment for patients, their families, staff and visitors. The standards focus on ensuring an organization conducts regular facility inspection rounds and takes appropriate actions to ensure safety. An organization must have safe water, electricity, medical gases and vacuum systems. An organization must have plans for emergencies and programs for medical and utility equipment management. A hospital must manage hazardous materials in a safe manner.
