Patients with neurological diseases, such as myasthenia gravis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, central nervous system infections, status epilepticus, and stroke require care in intensive care units and such patients remain dependent on ICU support for a longer period of time. In this lesson, we will learn the rationale for managing acute and chronic neurological conditions in a dedicated ICU environment.

Topics

  1. Assessment of the neurological system
  2. Care of patients with traumatic head injuries
  3. Cerebrovascular accidents (CVA)
  4. Guillain-Barre Syndrome
  5. Brain malignancies
  6. Seizure disorders
  7. Intracranial pressure monitoring
  8. Spinal cord injuries
