The immune system is an essential organ and its dysfunction or “failure” may be life-threatening. In critically ill patients, organ dysfunctions are routinely or daily assessed, monitored, and treated. The immune system or “immune organ” is mostly overlooked in intensive care units. In this lesson, we will learn the principles and skills of assessment of immunological disorders, care of patients after organ transplant, immunosuppressive therapy and nursing care of patients with immunological disorders.
