Demonstration Session of a Head-to-Toe Examination

In this lesson, a trainer will demonstrate the techniques in gathering subjective and objective data. Utilizing a standardized patient, a nurse will be able to perform/watch a head-to-toe assessment, identify abnormal findings, and document the findings. 

At the end of this topic, a nurse will be able to:

  • Approach the examination in a systematic manner
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of the patient
  • Interact and explain the procedure to the patient
  • Perform the techniques of examination (inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation) correctly
