The breast is an organ whose structure reflects its special function: the production of milk for lactation (breastfeeding). The epithelial component of the tissue consists of lobules, where milk is made, which connect to ducts that lead out to the nipple.
Breast Self Examination (BSE) is a screening method used in an attempt to detect early breast cancer. The method involves a woman herself looking at and feeling each breast for possible lumps, distortions or swelling.
