The goal of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is to manage the life-threatening signs and symptoms which may lead to death. Most healthcare practitioners follow the American Heart Association approved algorithm for prompt treatment of cardiac symptoms which have been developed through research, patient case studies, clinical studies, and opinions of experts in the field. An emergency nurse must know the treatment plan and algorithm for advanced cardiovascular life support.
